“This planet has – or rather had – a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time.”

Why do humans have to have enemies, it’s been a constant throughout our existence?  Are we so unhappy that we have to blame others for our unhappiness?  Is that what is going on?

Let’s work our way backwards:

2016 – African Americans against the Police force

2001 – America against Terrorism that translated to hatred of Muslims

1991 – America against Iraq

1960s – 1991 – Cold War, America’s enemy was Russia

1950s – 1960s – Vietnam War, enemies at home and abroad

1950 – 1953 – Korean War

1939 – 1945 – World War II

1914 – 1918 – World War I

1898 – Spanish American War

1800s – Battles with Native Americans

1861 – 1865 – Civil War

Our American History is a history of hate, it seems that we can’t go through a few years of peace before we have to declare a new enemy.  Do we get bored?  Are we afraid of someone taking something we have?  Are human’s all toddlers with their favorite toy that no-one else can play with?

I wish the world was more like my bike path, when you slow down in life and actually take a moment to breath it’s amazing how nice people actually are to one another There’s not a person I pass that doesn’t say good morning.

I think one of the problems with this world is that we’re so busy living our own lives (or flying by people at 60 mph) that we don’t take time to make simple human connections.
